GLOCESTER – For the third time in as many weeks Glocester companies responded to a fire on Sunday that caused major damage to a home in town.
Firefighters responded to 95 Putnam Pike around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 16 and were on scene for roughly two hours working to control the blaze.
The fire had fully engulfed the two-story home before firefighters arrived and mutual aid was called in, including a tanker task force due to the lack of fire hydrants. Around 50 firefighters responded including Harmony, Chepachet, West Glocester, Smithfield, Burrillville, Scituate, Johnston, Foster, and North Smithfield.

One firefighter was reportedly injured after tripping over a hose and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with a head injury.
The fire took place just across from Assados Kitchen & Bar, and both police and fire departments thanked the restaurant for providing water to emergency responders.
“Unfortunately, due to the extent of the damage, the home is considered a total loss,” noted a post from the Harmony Fire District.
The incident is just the latest in what has been a busy month for Glocester firefighters. A fire March 4 damaged the attic and roof of another home on Putnam Pike and on March 9, another blaze destroyed a home on John Street.
Editor’s note: The above article initially stated the fire was at 116 Putnam Pike, as reported out by emergency and other sources. It has been corrected.

You’re welcome….for the corrected address Sandy….
