Homecoming, Boo Bash & a Harvest Tea: Six things to know in Burrillville this week

Boo Bash

Jesse Smith Memorial Library will host its annual Boo Bash on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m., a free family event filled with Halloween games and activities. Trick or Treat through the library with costumes encouraged, and visit game and activity stations on the Riverwalk outside the library at 100 Tinkham Lane. No registration is required.

Homecoming & Bronco football anniversary

It’s homecoming week for Burrillville High School with spirit days throughout the week, along with evening activities including the BHS talent show on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 5-7 p.m., the Battle of the Class on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the middle school dances on Friday, Oct. 25.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, homecoming day will kick off with a parade starting at 9:30 a.m. and at a pregame ceremony starting at 10:45 a.m., the 2014 Broncos football team will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their undefeated, Super Bowl Championship season.

The homecoming game will against the Westerly Bulldogs at Alumni Field will begin at 11 a.m.

Young Frankenstein continues

The Rhode Island Stage Ensemble’s performance of Young Frankenstein at The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. continues this week, with shows on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $27 or $23 for students, seniors and military members and can be purchased here. Tickets sold at the door will cost an additional $2 each.

Fall Harvest Bazaar

St. Patrick’s Church at 45 Harrisville Main St. will host its annual Fall Harvest Bazaar on Friday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature items for sale, along with raffles, and food available for purchase, with chowder & clam cakes on Friday, and dynamites, meatball and salad on Saturday.

Harvest Tea

Mapleville Farm at 544 Victory Highway will host an Autumn Harvest Tea on Sunday, Oct. 27 starting at 1 p.m. The tea party and luncheon will be held in the greenhouse, with salads, sandwiches and a pumpkin bisque, a tower of seasonal pastries and desserts, and a selection of bottomless fall teas.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be reserved in person by cash or check during our normal hours, or online at www.maplevillefarm.com.

Town meetings

The Burrillville 250 Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Oct. 21 starting at 7 p.m. at the public safety complex at 1477 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22 starting at 7 p.m. in the community room of Jesse Smith Memorial Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23 starting at 7 p.m. at the town building at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.
