GLOCESTER – A Glocester man was arrested on charges of first degree child molestation and second degree sexual assault according to a release from the Rhode Island State Police.

Kyle Delaney, 49, of 95 Chestnut Oak Road was picked up on an active arrest warrant by troopers on Thursday, June 27 at 1:30 p.m.

Delaney has been charged with four felonies: one count of first degree child molestation and three counts of second degree sexual assault by the Glocester Police Department.

The Boston Globe reported this week that Delaney served on the parent advisory board for the state Department of Children, Youth and Families and and an interim executive director of the state chapter of Prevent Child Abuse.

In May, a preteen girl reportedly told her mother that Delaney had sexually abused her at his home for about three years, starting when she was 3 years old. The mother called Day One Rhode Island, an agency that supports survivors of sexual abuse, and the police, according to an affidavit

Troopers took Delaney the into custody at the Adult Correctional Institution. He was transported to state police headquarters where he was processed and later turned over to the Glocester Police Department.

Delaney was held without bail and is due back in 3rd District Court for a status conference on Wednesday, July 3.
