LINCOLN – The chairman of the Lincoln Democratic Town Committee has announced his campaign for the Senate District 17 seat representing Lincoln, North Smithfield and North Providence.

Cameron Deutsch will run for the position currently held by Republican Sen. Thomas Paolino.

A nearly lifelong resident of Lincoln, Deutsch is a recent graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Mass. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science with a focus on American politics as well as a pre-law concentration. For the past year, he has worked as a special education teaching assistant in a Massachusetts public middle school.

In a release on his campaign, Deutsch pointed to potential improvements to quality of life in Lincoln, announcing his campaign along with Bonnie Taylor, who is running to represent Lincoln Town Council District 2.

“Lincoln has all the components of a safe, healthy, and enriching community: residents who support each other, open green spaces, a diverse small business community, and a connection to rural, suburban, and urban life,” noted the release.

“Our community can only work if elected officials collaborate at all levels of government. Cameron and Bonnie have worked together for years and will continue to communicate regularly and work transparently,” the release said. “With improvements to infrastructure and public transportation, continued support of outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship, and creative solutions to modern-day challenges, Lincoln can protect the beauty it has and ensure continued success for generations to come.”
