Sports camp

A Summer Sports Camp for athletes entering grades 1-7 will be held at Ponaganset Middle School from Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program will feature a variety of sports and costs $50 a day or $150 for the full week.

Pasta dinner

Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host a pasta dinner fundraiser on Saturday, May 20 from 2 to 8 p.m. to benefit Ponaganset Middle School’s Cheryl Etheridge, and help with medical expenses. There will be several raffle items available and a 50/50, with ticketed entry at the door.

PHS grad to attend Coast Guard Academy

Boatswain’s Mate Third Class Tyler Guilmette, son of Christopher and Dawn Guilmette of Chepachet, has accepted an appointment to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. Guilmette is a graduate of Ponaganset High School who recently returned from deployment, having conducted migrant and drug interdiction operations while assigned to Operation Vigilant Sentry. He received a U.S. Coast Guard Achievement Medal for his actions.

Train station fun

On Sunday, May 21 Harmony Products will host a special event with local photographer Bryon Baron of Double B Photography set up in the train station gift shop with photos for sale, and Wintergreen Carving demonstrating chainsaw carving out front. In addition to the usual train rides, Jumpalooza Inflatables will offer bouncing for the kids and Little B’s BBQ food truck will also be on site, along with vendors on the deck from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Town meetings

The Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 16 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, May 18 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Glocester Town Hall. The agenda is expected to be posted on the Secretary of State’s website 48 hours in advance.
