NORTH SMITHFIELD – A worker at North Smithfield-based Briarwood Child Academy has been arrested following a complaint from a parent over a physical incident involving a child, according to police.
Kelly Teixeira, 44, of Pawtucket was arrested on Tuesday, May 2 and charged with one count of simple assault.
According to a release from the North Smithfield Police Department, the arrest was the result of an investigation conducted after receiving a complaint from a parent. The parent reportedly told police that while in the care of Teixeira at the Pound Hill Road day care center, a physical incident occurred, directed at their child.
Police said no further information regarding the incident will be released at this time.
