GLOCESTER – The hunt is on!
That is, the Founder of the Golden Ticket treasure hunt for children begins next month.
The contest is sponsored by Vintage Cycles & More.
Owner Matthew LaCroix says the winner of the hunt gets a Radio Bicycle Company BMX bike.
Contestants register at the bike shop, where the contest kicks off on Saturday, May 6, at 9 a.m., at the 712 Putnam Pike shopping plaza in Chepachet.
Then, once a week throughout the month of May, LaCroix will offer a clue of where to find the golden ticket, such at in a public place like a park, he says.
Although “the game is only for kids. Parents can help,” said LaCroix.
BMX stands for “bicycle motocross.”
Originating in the early 1970s, the BMX bicycle is an inexpensive version of motocross bikes used on dirt tracks as well as in urban areas, according to Bicycle History.
The children’s prize, a matt black finish bike, is suitable for a boys or girls “somewhere in the age range of seven to ten years old,” said LaCroix, adding the bike retails at about $500-600.
With the help of the hints, “someone will find the ticket,” LaCroix promises.
When the missing half of the golden ticker is found, the winner is to bring it to Vintage Cycle & More, where LaCroix will verify it’s the legitimate ticket.
Then lucky winner takes home a brand new BMX bike.
