NORTH SMITHFIELD – A ticket sold at Li’l General at 659 Great Road in North Smithfield has won $50,000, officials with the Rhode Island lottery announced on Monday.

The winner purchased a ticket for the Powerball drawing on Saturday, Feb. 4. The numbers drawn on Saturday were 2, 8, 15, 19 and 58 with Powerball #10.

On Tuesday, lottery officials announced that the winning ticket had been claimed by a North Smithfield man.

“He said he plays every week using family birthdays for his numbers,” noted a release. “He plans to invest the winnings.”

The ticket matched four numbers plus the Powerball number for the $50,000 win, and lottery officials noted that if the man had purchased the Power Play feature, the prize would have been multiplied by two, the Power Play number for that draw, to win $100,000.

Monday night’s Powerball jackpot was $747 million, the game’s fifth-largest prize.
