The Learning Place Preschool at 21 Terry Lane held two days of professional development for staff last week. The preschool will hold an open house on Saturday, Feb. 4 as open enrollment for fall 2023 begins.

Middle School presents Seussical the Musical

The Ponaganset Middle School Drama Club will present Seussical the Musical on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the school at 7 Rustic Hill Road in North Scituate. Tickets will be sold via preorder only, will close on Thursday, Feb. 2. and can be purchased at bit.ly/PMSSeussTix.

A snow date for either show has been scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m.

Tea with Tate

The Glocester Police Department is inviting residents to Tea with Tate on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. Visit with the GPD K9 Tate at The Hype at 401 Putnam Pike in Chepachet and purchase your tickets for the department’s 50/50 raffle to benefit Glocester boy Noah Daigle who continues to fight a rare cancer. Tickets for the raffle cost $20 each, with a winner to be drawn on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The department will also have K9 Tate challenge coins available for purchase.

Take Your Child to the Library Day

Saturday, Feb. 4 is Take Your Child to the Library Day and residents are invited to drop in to local facilities.

Celebrate with Miss Kat at Harmony Library between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon with fun crafts and scavenger hunts, and sign up for a free library card if you don’t already have one. Drinks and snacks will also be available.

At Glocester Manton Library, drop in between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. to celebrate to celebrate with Miss Jen with crafts and scavenger hunts. Participants will be making sand art pens, and hot chocolate and coffee will be available. Crafts are first come first serve.

Cookie Grams

The Ponaganset High School Class of 2025 is hosting a Valentines Day Cookie Gram sale with cookies to be delivered to students on Valentine’s Day Tuesday, Feb. 14. Cookies will be individually wrapped from A & J Bakery in Cranston and are all peanut, tree-nut and top 10 allergen free.

Parents are invited to participate in the fundraiser and purchase a cookie-gram for their child by emailing vserra@fgschools.com. Cookies are $5 and will be delivered during W4. They will also be sold during lunches, with all sales ending on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Town meetings

The Glocester Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 31 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

A bonus ‘thing’

As a bonus this week, don’t forget that the new Assados Kitchen & Bar will host a grand opening on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 102 Putnam Pike with both lunch and dinner hours.
