Winter coats

Berard-Desjarlais American Legion Post 88 handed out 15 new coats on Saturday, Jan. 7. The post at 111 Chapel St. will be open to all that are in need of a coat on Monday, Jan. 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. The post has been working with Berean Baptist Food Pantry, St. Pats Food Pantry, Memere’s Mission, Rhode Island State Police, Home Depot and Ocean State Job Lot to get the jackets to those in need.

Van fundraiser

A fundraiser has been launched to help Burrillville resident Tina Guenette-Pedersen to purchase a new accessible van to continue her work helping other members of the disability community. As of Monday, Jan. 9, $6,800 of the needed $20,000 for a down payment had been raised.

Incident report

The Harrisville Fire Department has released an incident report summary for the 2022 year, noting that the department saw a sharp increase in alarms for the second year in a row. The department responded to a total of 1,002 emergency medical service calls, 51 fire incidents and 37 calls for hazardous conditions.

Comedy night

Tito’s Tavern at 9 Callahan School St. in Harrisville will host a comedy night on Saturday, Jan.14 starting at 7:30 p.m. The show will feature Grandma Martha, with performances also by Derrick Fonseca, Jay Burns and Aaron Leidecker.

The Burrillville Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Jan. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the DPW offices at 200 Clear Rive Drive. The agenda is here.
