PROVIDENCE — A Burrillville man who has been held at Wyatt Detention Center since police discovered his stockpile of guns last February has reportedly reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
Ronald Andruchuk, 38, has agreed to forfeit the more than 200 weapons and pounds of ammunition found in his Burrillville home, and to plead guilty to three charges including, two counts of making false statements during a firearm purchase and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.
Two other federal charges will be dropped and the guns will be destroyed, according to the deal reached this week. Prosecutors also agreed to recommend a sentence at the low end of the range for the offense level, according to a court filing Tuesday, Dec. 20. If U.S. District Judge Mary McElroy sentences Andruchuk within the guideline range, he will not be allowed to appeal.
But Andruchuk also faces nine state charges, which will not be affected by the agreement, including drug possession, domestic violence, cyberstalking and counts related to the ghost guns.
His arrest stems back to an incident in which police responded to a report of shots fired at Andruchuk’s Tarkiln Road home and found him wearing a bulletproof vest, and carrying four guns and methamphetamine. In a search of the home, which he shared with his wife and three children, police uncovered 211 firearms, a flamethrower, thousands of rounds of ammunition, ghost guns, cocaine, amphetamines, and methamphetamines.
You can reach all the plea deals in the world, but these types never give up and change their course in life. We will again read about him once he is let out. Police work their tails off only to see lawyers and judges slap their wrists and let them loose. Wait and see.
