Holiday hours
North Smithfield Town Hall will close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, and will not reopen until Tuesday Dec. 27 in celebration of Christmas Day. Trash and recycling pick up will be delayed by one day the week following Christmas, and will not take place on Monday, Dec. 26.
Town Hall will be closed again in celebration of New Year’s Day the following week on Monday, Jan. 2, and trash and recycling will also be delayed one day for the week.
Sponsors welcomed
The North Smithfield Athletic Association is now accepting sponsors for the recently refurbished turf field at North Smithfield High School. The cost is $1,500 with a three year commitment for a 4 X 8 full-color sign in a prime location on the field.

Holiday concerts
Monday, Dec. 19 is the final day to purchase general admission tickets for the North Smithfield High School Music Department’s holiday concerts, to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m., and Thursday, Dec. 22 at 9 a.m.
Tickets are a $10 and the general public can purchase tickets in the main office of the high school at 412 Greenville Road.
Candlelight on the Common
Slatersville Congregational Church will hold two services on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, with a family-friendly service first at 5 p.m. The second, a Candlelight Christmas Service, begins at 11 p.m., where the church has candle-lit luminary bags glowing on the common, beginning at about 5:30 p.m. until midnight, to celebrate the arrival of Christmas Day.
On Sunday, Dec. 25, there will be a Christmas Day service held at 10 a.m.
Town meetings
The North Smithfield Zoning Board will hold a meeting on Monday, Dec. 19 starting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a special meeting in executive session on Monday, Dec. 19 starting at 6:15 p.m. for an agenda found here. The closed session gathering will be followed by an open session meeting at 6:45 p.m. for an agenda found here.
The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a meeting on Monday, Dec. 19 starting at 6:30 p.m. at North Smithfield Middle School at 1850 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.
