Inauguration
The town of North Smithfield will hold an inauguration ceremony for newly elected officials on Thursday, Dec. 1 starting at 7 p.m. at North Smithfield High School at 412 Greenville Road. Former Town Administrator Linda Thibault will serve as master of ceremonies, with the swearing in of Town Council and School Committee members performed by Gov. Dan McKee. The event will also include a performance by the high school band.
Tree lighting
North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department will hold the town’s annual Holiday at the Gazebo on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will include a tree lighting, caroling, music, crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, cookies and a visit from Santa. The town will also be collecting donations for food pantry and animal shelter.
Carolers for hire
Sign ups are underway for those who would like a Christmas caroling visit from the North Smithfield High School Chamber and Select Choirs this holiday season. Town residents can purchase a visit on Sunday, Dec. 18 for a time slot from 2 to 10 p.m. for themself or a friend, and carolers will sing three songs for $30. Proceeds will be used to help with this year’s trip to the NYC music festival in 2023. Sign up here.
Fall sports banquet
The North Smithfield High School Athletic Department will hold a Fall Sports Banquet on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in the NSHS auditorium starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will honor fall student athletes with awards, and will also include raffle baskets, games and refreshments. Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP with their name and count to the North Smithfield Athletic Association via Facebook messenger.
