NORTH SMITHFIELD – The search for a missing man in North Smithfield Wednesday night into Thursday morning had a happy ending, when police located the 62-year-old.
Philip Emond was found conscious and alert, and transported to a local hospital, according to the North Smithfield Police Department.
“We cannot thank the assisting agencies enough for the aid in this search that started yesterday around 3 p.m. until this morning,” noted police around noon on Thursday, Nov. 17. “We had multiple police departments, fire department and search groups respond to assist with K9’s, drones and much much more.”
Agencies searched the woods and surrounding area by Pound Hill, Mattity and Bearskin Farm Roads after family notified police Emond was missing. The family recently moved to town from North Providence.
“We also would like to recognize and thank the residents of North Smithfield for their hospitality and help in this incident,” the department added. “We could not have done this without you. We are hopeful to see Philip have a healthy and fast recovery.”
