Open House, Little League & Candlelight Shopping: Five things to know in Glocester this week

Open house

The Learning Place Preschool at 12 Terry Lane in Chepachet will hold an Open House on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The school runs a pre-K class for children ages 4-5 every Tuesday through Thursday and a Monday, Wednesday and Friday preschool class for children ages 3-4 starting in January. Parents will have the chance to visit the classrooms and chat with the teachers.

Little League

Registration is now open for all divisions in Glocester Little League’s 2023 season at glocesterll.com. The league is also in need volunteers, whether it be to help on the board, serve as coaches, perform field maintenance and more. Those interested should email league President Anastasia Wachter at hacteha1984@gmail.com. Registration will remain open through Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Meat raffle

The Glocester Lions Club will host a meat raffle at Pinewood Pizza & Pub at 16 Terry Lane in Chepachet on Sunday, Nov. 20, with doors to open at noon. The event will include a free buffet with the purchase of meat raffle tickets, a 50/50 raffle and the chance to win a turkey. Visitors will also be able to watch the New England Patriots game against the New York Jets on TV.

Candlelight shopping announced

The town’s annual Candlelight Shopping events in the village of Chepachet have been scheduled to take place every Thursday next month, starting on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. Local shops will be decorated for the season and the streets will be lit with antique street lights, while the sounds of holiday music add to the old-fashioned ambiance. Locals and visitors are invited to the village to enjoy a unique holiday shopping, dining, and entertainment excursion.

Town meetings

The West Glocester Fire District will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 2410 Putnam Pike starting at 5:30 p.m. The agenda is here.

The Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike on Tuesday, Nov. 15 starting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda can be found here.

The Glocester Historic District Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Zoning Board meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16 has been cancelled. The board’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
