Tuesday, Nov. 8 is voting day, and there are five polling locations open in North Smithfield from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To view a sample ballot or check your polling location visit https://vote.sos.ri.gov/ .

Veterans Day

Town Hall will be closing at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 in celebration of Veterans Day and will remain closed on Friday, Nov. 11.

On Friday, VFW Post 6342 will hold their annual Veterans Day ceremony at Scouters Hall starting at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend the ceremony, and local scouting troops will participate by posting colors. Town officials have also been invited to speak at the event.

Open House

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will hold an Open House at the Forestdale Schoolhouse at 190 School St. on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for sale will include throws, puzzles, maps books and 2023 historical calendars. Proceeds will benefit NSHA’s preservation efforts throughout town.

Thanksgiving Drive

Kenny’s Coalition’s 7th annual Thanksgiving Drive is now underway, helping to provide holiday meals to local military families. All money donated will be used to purchase a gift card for a family serving at the 282nd squadron to help complete their Thanksgiving meal.

Donations an be made via Venmo @kennyscoalition or by emailing April Lombardi at kennyscoalition@gmail.com for information on how to mail a check. The deadline for the fundraiser is Sunday, Nov. 20.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 8 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 1470 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Tax Board of Assessment Review will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Conservation Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St.
