BURRILLVILLE – A 32-year-old Pascoag man was rescued from deep in the woods that straddle the state line between Rhode Island and Connecticut this week after he was injured in ATV accident.

Kyle Quijano, 32, reportedly sustained a compound fracture to his leg in the crash, and was brought to the hospital via life flight.

According to a report on the incident, Burrillville police were called to the area of Munyon Trail around 1:02 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16. The property, owned by Boy Scouts of America, borders the neighboring state and emergency personnel were at first uncertain if the injured party was in Rhode Island or Connecticut.

In addition to BPD, Pascoag and Wallum Lake Fire Departments responded to the area, along with Thompson, Conn. Fire and Putnam, Conn. EMS.

EMS units from Connecticut eventually located a friend of the driver, who was able to direct them to the scene of the crash, which was 2-3 miles in the woods, according to reports.

Quijano had a serious leg injury, and was extricated from the woods by police, along with the East Thompson and Pascoag Fire Departments, utilizing a Ranger 185. A UMass Memorial Life Flight met the crew on the Thompson Speedway Golf Course, and Quijano was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

A 29-year-old Massachusetts man was ejected from a Jeep in an off-roading accident in the same area last year, and later died from his injuries.
