Trail walk

The North Smithfield Land Trust will host a guided walk of Booth Pond Conservation Area on Saturday, Sept. 24, as part of RI Land Trust Days. The 130-acre conservation area features the pond, surrounding wetlands and upland forest. The first half of the walk is of moderate difficulty and the group will return to the trailhead before starting the second half. For those who wish to continue, the second portion has some sections with challenging uphill and downhill terrain, and participants are advised that a walking stick may be helpful. There is a scenic overview of the surrounding area at a lookout point at the higher elevation.

Those joining the hike should wear comfortable hiking shoes, and bring bug spray and water. Visitors should park near the ALDI store and walk down toward The Club apartment complex. Participants will meet by the green trailhead sign on the right.

No registration is necessary for the event, which is free and suitable for all ages.
