Northern, RI – It’s here: the unofficial start of summer.

And while the weather may still be a bit unpredictable to plan out a beach day, there’s plenty to do locally, with parades, live music and more this weekend in northern Rhode Island.

Welcome to The Weekend, our weekly roundup of all the happenings – from barroom karaoke, to events that cater to families, all in a three-town radius.

This week, we’ve laid out five days of fun with the inclusion of the Memorial Day holiday.

Lindy’s plastic palace makes a return this weekend with events Thursday, Sunday and Monday, joining in a summer outdoor entertainment at local digs including Johnny’s Victory Diner and The Island.

But don’t forget: the holiday is more than just an extra day out of work. Monday is a day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, honoring military personnel who died in the line of service. Events in all three towns provide plenty of chances to honor the occasion.

Pop a beach chair in the trunk, and get ready to kick back and enjoy the festivities with our line-up of everything to do this weekend in Burrillville, North Smithfield and Glocester.
