Year-round litter collector Kelly in Burrillville made a sign for the town to display for Earth Day with a small sampling of the empty "nip" bottles she's collected. The sign is now in the lobby of the town's Public Works building.

Northern R.I. – As we head into the Easter holiday and Spring Break begins at schools across the state, there is much to enjoy – and accomplish – here in northern Rhode Island.

Welcome to The Weekend, where we list all of the entertainment and special events taking place right here in your community. Our roundup covers fundraising and volunteer events, and activities geared toward families, as well as entertainment that aims to attract a more adult crowd.

With Earth Day cleanups and the ongoing celebration of Rhode Island Cemeteries Weeks, opportunities abound to add a little volunteerism to your leisure time over the next few days. Many establishments are closed on Easter Sunday, but there’s still opportunity for some live entertainment on the holiday.

Our hope, as always, is to support local businesses while providing you all information you need to enjoy a fabulous weekend, right here in northern Rhode Island.

Don’t forget to spread the word: you saw it on NRI NOW.
