Grad party fundraiser

A fundraiser for Burrillville High School’s senior all-night graduation party will be held at Bravo Brewing Company in Pascoag on Thursday, April 14 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature a door prize, gift baskets, a 50/50 raffle and a food truck, with money raised to help finance the party, providing an alternative for students to the temptation of drinking and driving.

Shred event

Rhode Island Credit Union will host a free community shred day on Saturday, April 16 at the Pascoag branch from 10 a.m. to noon. The bank will also be collecting donations of laundry detergent, hand soap, paper towels, sanitizer and monetary support for the Burrillville Animal Shelter.

Tarkiln cleanup

Town Council President Donald Fox is inviting residents to join a team cleaning Tarkiln Road in conjunction with Burrillville’s annual Earth day cleanup.

“Tarkiln Road has become a major detour this year while the Nasonville Bridge is closed,” Fox noted.  “The already bad amount of annual litter is worse.  Are you tired of seeing our roads littered in such bad shape?  If so, please join us for our annual Tarkiln Road Clean Up.  The road needs it this year more than ever!”

Fox is seeking walkers to pick up and bag trash and drivers to carry supplies and water. The town will supply bags and gloves, and full bags will be left to be collected by Burrillville DPW on Monday, April 18. High school students can earn community service hours for graduation.

“This is a great chance to meet your neighbors and fellow town residents and get some early spring exercise,” Fox said.

The cleanup will take place Saturday, April 16 starting at 9:30 a.m., with participants meeting at the Mapleville end of Tarkiln Road.
