Today is Monday, Nov. 22 and in place of our usual, “Five things to know,” we’ve compiled information from both Burrillville and North Smithfield for the holiday week.

Holiday trash

Trash and recycling pickup will not take place in Burrillville or North Smithfield on Thursday, Nov. 25 and town offices will be closed in honor of Thanksgiving Day. Remember to put those bins out one day later for the remainder of the week. Town offices will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 26 in celebration of the holiday.

Football fun

Join the Burrillville Republican Town Committee tonight – Monday, Nov. 22 – for Monday Night Football at Toti’s Tavern. Watch the New York Giants take on the Tampa Bay Bucs in the fundraising game, with a minimum donation of $25 requested. The game starts at 8:15 p.m.

It’s time for those annual high school rivalry games and this year, the Broncos football team will take on Ponaganset High School in a home game starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25.

The North Smithfield/Mount Saint Charles Co-op will play their big match Thanksgiving Eve, with a game on the new turf field at North Smithfield High School. Read more here.

Victorian Holiday

The Downtown Pascoag Neighborhood Association will host its annual Victorian Holiday on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. Visit with Santa, see a parade of jeeps and fire trucks, shop with local vendors and sample treats from local food trucks. A school chorus will perform at 4:15 p.m.

Volunteers

While you’re feeling thankful, why not give back and consider some great northern Rhode Island volunteer opportunities? In Burrillville, the Parks & Recreation Department needs help with the Meals on Wheels program, delivering food and prescriptions to residents who need them. Contact the department at (401) 710-7429 for more information.

The town of North Smithfield is still seeking members for a variety of board and commissions, and accepting applications through Dec. 1. View a list of opening and application instructions here. Maybe 2022 will be your year to get more involved?

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Economic Development Commission will hold a meeting at 83 Greene St. on Monday, Nov. 22 starting at 6 p.m. The agenda can be found here.

The Burrillville Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 23 in the community room at Jesse Smith Library starting at 7 p.m. for an agenda found here.

The Burrillville Charter Review Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 23 in the Town Council chambers starting at 7 p.m. for an agenda found here.
