Senior transportation

The town of Burrillville has relaunched its Senior Transportation program, with operations set to resume as of Tuesday, Aug. 2. New guidelines require that masks must be worn at all times in the vehicle and only one passenger with a caregiver can ride for doctor visits. The limit for shopping trips is seven passengers, with one person per seat. Rides are by appointment only. To schedule a ride, seniors are instructed to call Allison at (401) 568-4440 and select option 2.

Members wanted for new Charter Review Commission

The Burrillville Town Council is seeking nine members to serve on the 2021 Charter Review Commission, to be tasked with reviewing the Town Charter for potential changes and reporting their findings. The board is expected to meet beginning in September, through May of 2022. Applications are available on the town website and at Town Hall, and interested parties should call, visit or email Town Clerk Vicki Martin at (401) 568-4300 ext. 180 or townclerk@burrillville.org.

Diesel Fuel to close

Diesel Fuel Bakery has announced that the business, opened last year, will be closing its doors on Saturday, July 31 due to staffing issues, vendors and distributor issues, and food and staff costs.

Building owner Bonnie Carter announced the news this week on social media, noting that she has already found a new chef with his own vision that will occupy the space in downtown Pascoag.

The weekend

The Burrillville Farmer’s Market will continue this weekend, serving up local food, art, music and more on Saturday, July 31 at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Stop back at the pavilion at 6 p.m. to catch a free concert with Kelley Lennon Band as part of the Riverwalk Times Concert series. The rain venue for the concert is Levy Ice Rink.

Town meetings

The Pascoag Utility District Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting on Monday, July 26 at 2 p.m. at the district office at 253 Pascoag Main St. for an agenda found here.

The Burrillville Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting on Tuesday, July 27 starting at 7 p.m. in the community room at Jesse Smith Memorial Library for an agenda found here.

The Nasonville Fire District will hold a budget workshop on Tuesday, July 27 starting at 7 p.m. at 2577 Victory Highway, with an agenda found here.

The Oakland Mapleville Fire District will hold a monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. at 46 Oakland School St. for an agenda found here.
