Flowers honor passing
North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service recently planted flowers and plants in front of the Firefighter’s Monument at Station 1 on Providence Pike. The beautifying was done with the help of donations from the recent passing of Helen Provost, the mother of one of the members of the department.
The new committee tasked with bringing the life of the community to the walls of Town Hall now has a Facebook page. The N.S. Public Art Committee hopes to create opportunities for outreach and citizen engagement with public art projects, at community events and public presentations with the page, which can be found here. The group is expected to issue a, “save the date,” for a Town Hall Open House in the near future.
N.S. Days kicks off
North Smithfield Days kicks off this week with three full days of events and activities in celebration of the town’s 150th anniversary.
The fun begins on Thursday, July 8, with a pre-screening from the docu-series Slatersville at North Smithfield High School, followed by a Family Movie Night at Pacheco Park. Friday night, it’s Dinner Under the Stars – with tickets still available here – and Saturdays events including a walking tour, Kids Day and a grand finale with food trucks, a DJ and fireworks on the high school grounds.

Raffle to restore the flag
The North Smithfield Heritage Association is selling raffle tickets for a liquor basket to help raise money for the restoration and conservation of the Slatersville Dorr Rebellion Flag. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at Memorial Town Hall at 1 Main St. or by contacting email@example.com. A winner will be drawn at the the association’s gala to be held Saturday, July 31, and you do not need to be present to win.
