Shovelers needed

The Ashton Court Tenants’ Association is in need of volunteers to help elderly and disabled residents during snow storms.  Those who can assist with shoveling and clearing off cars in the future are asked to contact Hylda Zommer at (401) 696-4997.

Raffle drawing

The Burrillville Land Trust will be drawing a winner in the raffle of 100 scratch tickets on Sunday, Feb. 14, the first fundraiser in an ongoing campaign to save Sweet’s Hill.

The organization sold all 250 tickets in the raffle, part of an ongoing effort to save the iconic property from development at a cost of $2.2 million.

The drawing will be held at Bravo Brewing Company starting at 1 p.m., and streamed live on the BLT Facebook page. The winner will be contacted by phone after the drawing.

Book release

Tiny House Creative Studio will officially launch A to Z for D-O-G this week, the first children’s book by Burrillville-based author Carissa Leveille Nylin.

Leveille Nylin will host a virtual event via Facebook Live featuring dog-themed giveaways. Followers can view the event on Sunday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. on the studio’s Facebook page.

The Burrillville Police Department is warning residents that it is illegal to drive recreational vehicles on the land up in the Buck Hill area of Pascoag. The private property is owned by several groups to include National Grid, Algonquin Gas, and the Boy Scouts of America.

According to the department, all of the owners have asked and have given police the authority to arrest and prosecute any individual who attempts to ride on the property, and anyone caught riding will be charged with trespassing.

The Burrillville Zoning Board will not hold a hearing for the month of February.

As of Monday, Feb. 8, there is no trash and recycling delay in the town of Burrillville.
