Trash delay

The town of Burrillville will have no trash or recycling pickup on Monday, Oct. 12 as the town celebrates Columbus Day. Pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Questions can be directed to the Department of Public Works at (401) 568-4440 ext. 12.

Voter info/deadline

Tuesday, Oct. 13 is the last day to apply for a mail ballot if you don’t want to vote in person this year. The application for a mail ballot can be printed here, completed and returned to the Burrillville Board of Canvassers by dropping it off at Town Hall.

Polls will be open in town on Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. including:
District 301-Steere Farm Elementary School 915 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag
District 302-Beckwith Bruchshaw Lodge 50 Lodge Road, Pascoag
District 303- Burrillville High School 425 East Ave, Harrisville
District 304-Callahan Elementary School 75 Callahan School St., Harrisville
District 305-Burrillville Police Station 1477 Victory Highway, Oakland
District 306-Burrillville Middle School, 2220 Broncos Highway, Harrisville

If you are not sure of your polling location, please contact the Board of Canvassers at 568-4300 or check online by following this link.

To register to vote, confirm your registration, address, party affiliation or your polling location, visit the Secretary of State’s website. You may also contact the Board of Canvassers at 401-568-4300 x132 for questions regarding your voter registration.

Alexandra Castillo is the new law enforcement advocate for the Burrillville Police Department

New law enforcement advocate

The Burrillville Police Department has hired a new law enforcement advocate to help victims of domestic violence and assist officers with cases.

Alexandra Castillo has experience working with victims and currently serves as the education and sexual health coordinator for Sojournor House. She can be contacted at acastillo@sojournerri.org.

Volunteer work day

The Episcopal Conference Center of RI will hold a a work project day on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to get the property ready for winter.

The center is looking for volunteers to help with landscaping while enjoying some socially distant fellowship for a few hours or for the whole day. Children ages 16 plus are welcome and children ages 12-15 who are willing to volunteer are welcome to accompany an adult.

Town meetings

The Pascoag Fire District will hold a meeting on Monday, Oct. 12 starting at 7 p.m. at 141 Howard Ave. Residents can attend in person or call in, with the agenda and instructions found here.

The Burrillville School Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 6 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Burrillville Sewer Commission will hold a regular meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Burrillville Zoning Board will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 7 p.m. for an agenda that includes Going Green Realty’s proposal for a carport solar array on Broncos Highway. The agenda and instructions to attend are here.

The Harrisville Fire District will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 7 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend virtually are here.

The Nasonville Fire District will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 7 p.m. Residents can attend in-person or via Zoom, with an agenda and link found here.
