BURRILLVILLE – A Glocester man is facing felony charges of threatening public officials after a birthday celebration in Burrillville gone wrong last week.
Gordon Jacques, 65, of 1272 Putnam Pike, was also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct following the incident on Friday, Sept. 11.
According to reports from the arrest, officers dispatched to South Main Street around 7 p.m. that night found Jacque’s 47-year-old wife standing next to a 2000 Chevrolet pickup that had crashed head-on into a tree.
Police said the woman was highly intoxicated, and she stated that her husband got drunk while celebrating his birthday, and became jealous of her interactions with a mutual friend.
Jacques reportedly climbed into his truck, threw his wife’s medications out the window, and drove 300 feet down the driveway of his friend’s home before crashing into a tree.
He then fled the scene on foot.
“Officers checked the area extensively for about two hours,” the report notes.
Jacques was finally located in a friend’s vehicle.
“While being evaluated, Mr. Jacques made violent statements and vocalized his intention to use physical force in the event of an impending arrest,” the report states.
The suspect violently resisted arrest and was tased, according to police. Once in custody, ‘he offered a myriad of eerie death threats,” to officers.
Jacques reportedly said he would find out where each of the four officers on the scene lived, shoot their families first and then shoot the officers in the head. He also threatened to post outside police headquarters and shoot the officers from across the street.
“Some of these threats were recorded via radio transmission to dispatch, which were preserved as evidence,” the report states.
Jacques was held overnight and was brought before a bail commissioner the following morning, where he was released on a summons to appear in 6th District Court at a later date.
