Horse yoga, Distance learning reopens: Things to know in Burrillville this week


Little League championship

The Burrillville Senior Little League for ages 13-16 will be playing a championship game on Thursday, Sept. 3 starting at  5 p.m. at Bentley Field in Cumberland. Visit the field to root the team on at their first championship in many years.

Distance learning

The Burrillville School Department has reopened registration for the Distance Learning Academy in light of the announcement on Monday, Aug. 31 that schools across the state will offer in-person instruction beginning Monday, Sept. 14.

Parents who have already signed up do not need to re-register. Registration will remain open until Tuesday, Sept. 8 and can be found here.

Yoga with horses

Zen Fit Mom will host Yoga with Horses on Sunday, Sept. 6 starting at 1 p.m. at 171 Warner Lane in Pascoag. Participants will practice a Reiki infused Kundalini yoga and meditation class alongside horses Argus and Priscilla.

Guests are asked to wear face masks until they are seated on their mats.
You may remove your mask while we practice.  After class there will be an opportunity to mingle with the horses, feed them a snack and take pictures.

The class costs $15 for adult and $10 for children and cash and Venmo will be accepted.

Make bread

Paul Roselli will host Paul Cooks on Thursday, Sept. 3 from 7 to 8 p.m., teaching the process of making bread and dough for making calzones. Join Paul Roselli on Zoom, Facebook and YouTube Live for an hour filled with bread making.

Town meetings

The Burrillville School Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. for an agenda that includes the district’s reopening plan. Instructions to attend can be found here.

The Harrisville Fire District will hold a special meeting of the operating committee on Tuesday, Sept. 1 starting at 7 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Nasonville Fire District will be holding a budget workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 1 starting at 7 p.m. at the fire station at 2577 Victory Highway. The agenda can be found here.

PVD Food Trucks returned to Burrillville on Sunday and were greeted by locals hungry to get outside.
