Joe August at Tavern 6 two 1

Visit Tavern 6 two 1 at 621 Pound Hill Road tonight, Friday, Dec. 20, for acoustic performance by Joe August, playing hits from all eras from 7-10 p.m.

Mrs. Claus at Coffee & Cream

Mrs. Claus will be visiting Coffee & Cream on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Bring your camera and appetite. Tickets are not needed, and the normal menu will be served – with the addition of a Jolly Snowman pancake with a cozy bacon scarf.

Police help at Christmas

The North Smithfield Police Department is asking anyone who knows of any families in North Smithfield who are struggling financially this Christmas to send a private message to their Facebook page and let them know. Include contact information for the family, number of children, their ages and gender.

Good night lights

Join Kenny’s Coalition in bringing some holiday cheer to children at Hasbro Hospital who can’t be home for Christmas on Sunday. The group will meet at Collier Point Park in Providence at 8:15 p.m. and will flash lights for kids in the hospital to let them know they are not alone in memory of Anna Kitada.

Participants are reminded to bring flashlights and any other lights they can.

Cookbook club

North Smithfield Public Library will be launching a new Cookbook Club in January with the theme New Year = New You.

About three weeks before each monthly meeting, registrants may borrow one of the librarian-selected cookbooks held at the checkout desk.

Choose a recipe to make, and prepare it for the meeting where participants will sample each other’s dishes and discuss their cooking experiences.

To join the Cookbook Club, sign-up on line at www.nspl.info and click on events, or call 767-2780.  There is a limit of 15 participants. More information about this month’s theme is available at http://www.nspl.info/cookbook-club
