Chief Reynolds announces retirement from North Smithfield Police Department

NORTH SMITHFIELD – After more than two decades serving as chief of the North Smithfiend Police Department, Chief Steven Reynolds announced on Thursday, Oct. 3 that he will be retiring.

Reynolds was appointed to the force in 1996 and has held the title for 24 years.

Prior to joining the North Smithfield ranks, Reynolds was a captain and detective commander with the Rhode Island State Police.

His retirement will take effect in February of 2020.

Reynolds has previously said that he plans to stay active in retirement and will serve as coach for the Lincoln High varsity baseball team.
