Stranger Things trivia

Head over to the Assembly Theatre tonight for Stranger Things trivia starting at 6 p.m., followed by a showing of The Neverending Story starting at 7 p.m. The cost for trivia is $15 per team, and the movie is free by donation. Stay for one event or both. 

Rhode Island Sound

Navy Band Northeast’s popular music group, Rhode Island Sound, returns to the Jesse Smith Library as the final band in the 2019 Riverwalk Times Concert Series on Saturday, Aug. 31 starting at 6 p.m.  Rhode Island Sound is a six-piece band that plays a wide variety of pop, rock and R&B.  The free concert will be held in front of the library at the Burrillville Farmer’s Market Pavilion.  In case of inclement weather, this concert will relocate to the Assembly Theatre.

Yard sale delay

The Community Yard Sale originally scheduled to be held at the Assembly Theatre on Saturday has been postponed. The new date for the event is Saturday, Oct. 5. 

60th Field Day & Muster

On Sunday, the Oakland Mapleville Fire Department will hold their 60th annual Field Day and Muster starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. at the Oakland Triangle. Purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win up to $1,000 and enjoy chowder, clam cakes, beer and more while you watch teams compete.

Labor Day

Did you know: President Grover Cleveland signed a law establishing the Labor Day holiday 125 years ago following a period of labor unrest?  While the holiday on Monday, Sept. 2 typically signifies the end of summer, it was created to recognize the contributions that working men and women to the strength, prosperity and well-being of America.
