BURRILLVILLE – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area with snow, sleet and rain expected in the early morning hours on Friday, Dec. 28.

The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the area is expected to see a brief period of light snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Accumulations are not expected to be significant, but the storm could affect the Friday morning commute.

According to NWS, less than one inch of snow is expected throughout portions of northern Connecticut and just to the north west of the Providence corridor.

The light wintery mix is expected to overspread the region between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m., and will change to rain between 9 and 10 a.m. Untreated roads are expected to be slippery early Friday morning, and will likely impact the morning rush hour. Drivers are advised to use caution.
