BURRILLVILLE –A entrepreneur and father of three, Matthew Zanni says he wants to serve on the Town Council because he hopes to contribute to Burrillville – not to use the position as a stepping stone to a higher office.
“I believe wanting a higher position compromises one’s intent on the council – making choices to add a line to a resume or in the interest of the state over the town,” Zanni told NRI NOW.  “I also have a strong interest in the small businesses in town and a desire to help the prosper.”
Zanni, who has lived in Burrillville for the past 15 years, works for a software and electrical engineering company in Massachusetts, and says he is also in the process of starting businesses in manufacturing and smart energy management. A married father of three boys, Zanni also is an amateur photographer, and shoots football games for local youth leagues.
“I do it for the parents at no charge because I love it and want to support the kids,” he said.  “We all love our town and have deep roots here.”
The candidate said helping the town communicate better with its citizens would be one of his major priorities.
“There are so many people who want to get involved but don’t know how to because they don’t hear about what is going on,” Zanni said. “It’s about forging strong relationships with the police and schools and making informed decisions about funding them. Ultimately, it is about giving the people of the community a direct voice in how we do that.”
