BURRILLVILLE – The Burrillville Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for upcoming fall programming.

Below is a complete list of programs being offered over the upcoming fall months.

Children’s Guitar Lessons will be held for grades 2-5 each Tuesday from 8 to 8:40 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Callahan Elementary School Music Room. The cost is $10 per week. Classes are being taught by musician and music teacher Christine Chito. Chito is a professional classical guitarist and mandolinist, who carries an Associate’s Degree in classical guitar studies, and tours with the Providence Mandolin Orchestra as first chair mandolinist. She maintains a studio for private lessons in guitar and mandolin at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School in East Providence. She has directed and administered an active group lesson program before school hours in three Lincoln public schools as an independent contractor and has toured Europe as well as New England with various ensembles. As a new resident of the town of Glocester, Chito is establishing an ongoing before school group guitar class in both Glocester and Burrillville. Boot Camp Classes are held at the Burrillville Community Recreation Center Beckwith Bruckshaw Lodge on Sundays from 7 to 8 a.m.; Mondays from 5:15 to 6:15 a.m.; Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.; Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m.; Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.; Fridays from 5:15 to 6:15 a.m.; and Saturdays from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Samantha Tobin is the Boot Camp instructor who is also spin certified, and because of her love of fitness and instructing, she has become passionate about her #TOBINSTYLEBOOTCAMP classes. Digital Photography 101 for ages 16 & up will be held for a 4-week session each Monday beginning Monday, Oct. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Burrillville Middle School-Room 116. The cost for the 4-week session is $50 per student. The class is designed to teach students how to capture images they see. You will learn how your camera works, how it thinks, and how to use that information to create photographs. Discussion will include suggested reading, accessories, software, composition and lighting. The class is intended for owners of DSLR cameras and advanced point and shoot cameras. Instructor David Wuerth can be contacted cdwuerth@msn.com to reserve a seat. Yoga is offered at the Burrillville Community Recreation Center Beckwith Bruckshaw Lodge each Thursday from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at a cost of $48 per 6 week session or a $10 walk-in fee. Feel tired and stressed? Join in and unwind from your day while gaining stability, flexibility and strength. Class is for everyone – no previous experience is necessary. Forever Fit is offered each Monday and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Burrillville Community Recreation Center Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge for ages 55 plus at a cost of $3 per class taught by instructor Susan Sgambato, B.S. This beginner/intermediate class combines seated stretching, flexibility and range of motion exercises, strength training, standing dance fitness and balance exercise. This is an excellent workout for everyone: strengthening upper and lower body, improving balance, and having lots of fun. Contact Instructor Sgambato at 568-5473 for registration information.

Zumba Classes are ready to party you into shape. It’s an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health. Taught by instructor Fran Golombiewski, each Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at a cost of $7 per class or $20 per month at the Burrillville Community Recreation Center Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge. Art Around the World Classes for Kids will be available after school Thursdays for Steere Farm Elementary students October 18 through November 15 from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. for grades K-5. The cost per student is $45 per 4-week session including necessary materials. After School Multi-Sport will be offered Wednesdays to Callahan Elementary students beginning November 14 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. for grades 2-5 at a cost of $30 per 4-week session; and Steere Farm students on Thursdays beginning October 4 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. for grades 2-5 at a cost of $48 per 6-week session. Classes for A.T. Levy students for ages 4 and up will be held on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 3 from 3:20 to 4:20 p.m. at a cost of $48 per 6-week session. The program offers children an opportunity to experience new sports, basketball, indoor kickball and wife ball, while having fun and learning how to be part of a team. Fencing takes place at the A. T. Levy School cafeteria each Monday beginning Oct. 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and each and Friday beginning Oct. 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. by instructor Mike Kropman at a cost of $20 for six weeks for students and $40 for six weeks for adults including both classes. Come join us in assisting to fill the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack program for at need children in Burrillville. If you could donate one hour for a packing session at the Burrillville Community Recreation Center Beckwith- Bruckshaw Lodge, donate any items from the donation list, make a monetary donation, or help out at fundraising events, the department would greatly appreciate your help. The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department will be continuing the Burrillville Sunshine Club with the assistance of volunteers Sue Gaudreau and Holly Bisson. The club gathers once per month at the Parks & Recreation Department to make homemade gifts to share at the local nursing homes to celebrate any patient’s birthdays that have occurred during that month.
