Paddle Burrillville
Blackstone Heritage Corridor volunteers will lead residents on an exploration the Nipmuc River on Tuesday, June 4 starting at 6 p.m. The river, above the pond and above where the Clear River ends, is listed by the state as pristine water, the state’s highest rating for water quality.
Participants must bring their own canoe or kayak, paddles and life jackets, and arrive by 6 p.m. for 6:15 p.m. launch.

At the libraries
Jesse Smith Memorial Library will host Literacy Tails starting at 6 p.m. tonight, a program designed to help children in grades 1 through 5 to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to therapy dogs. Register in the children’s department.
Jesse Smith will hold a Microsoft Excel computer class for adults on Tuesday, June 4 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Participants are asked to register at the reference department as a limited number of computers will be available.
Jesse Smith will host an ice cream party for teens on Thursday, June 6 3-4 p.m. Drop in and celebrate the warm weather.
On Thursday at 6 p.m., Jesse Smith will host Pride Story Time, reading three books that celebrate diversity, followed by a rainbow craft. Register at the children’s department.
Town meetings
The Burrillville Planning Board will hold their regular meeting on Monday, June 3 starting at 7 p.m. in the Jesse Smith Community room. The agenda can be found here.
The Ordinance Subcommittee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 4 starting at 2 p.m. at Town Hall.
Riders donate $6K
The Patriot Riders of America, Chapter 1 RI raised $6,000 in a bike run for Project Ironclad that was held over the weekend. The project, organized by New Englanders Helping Our Veterans, aims to get a new home built for an 82-year-old Burrillville man.

Power plant hearings announced
The Energy Facility Siting Board has announced the schedule for the upcoming deliberations on Invenergy’s proposal to build a 1,000 megawatt gas-burning power plant in Burrillville. Meetings will be held on Thursday, June 20; Friday, June 21 and Tuesday, June 25 starting at 10 a.m. at the Public Utilities Commission Offices at 89 Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.
