Calendar fundraiser

The Burrillville High School 2021 Senior class is conducting a February Calendar Raffle with prizes each day including gift certificates to local establishments.  Calendars cost $10 and can be reserved by messaging Donald Fox. Safe curbside pickup is available.
The class is hoping to use some of the funds for possible end of year activities.

The Lady Bronco Basketball team is also hoping to raise funds following a year in which COVID-19 made it difficult to hold the team’s usual events. Donations, which will help to offset the cost of the kids’ team apparel, can be made via Venmo at @burrillville-girlsbasketball.

Nasonville Water District needs members

The Nasonville Water District is urgently in need of 2-3 new board members.

“If we do not get new members, we will be forced to turn the district over to outside management which will increase rates,” the board noted this week.

The board meets four times per year for 1-2 hours and members are paid $75 for each meeting. Those interested should attend the board’s quarterly meeting, to be held Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the Nasonville Fire Department at 2577 Victory Highway starting at 7 p.m.

Steere Farm Backpack drive

The Steere Farm PTA will hold a food drive on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the elementary school from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group is looking to collect juice boxes, individual snacks, pastas, soups, mac and cheese, and canned meals like ravioli.

Donors just need to drive up and a volunteer will take food donations.

The group is also collecting cash and check for the snack pack program, which provides food for children in need in town. Checks can be made out to Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program.

Be the Match

A search is underway for a bone marrow donor for Burrillville native Troy Peck’s daughter Aspen, who has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. To survive the disease she will go through several rounds of an experimental chemotherapy and then receive a bone marrow transplant.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up for the family here.
