Distance learning deadline, food trucks return: Five things to know in Burrillville

Trash delay

The town of Burrillville will have no trash or recycling pickup on Monday, Aug. 10 as the town celebrates Victory Day. Pick up will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at (401) 569-4440 Ext. 12.

Distance learning deadline

The Burrillville School District’s deadline to register for virtual learning with the Distance Learning Academy is Tuesday, Aug. 11. If registered, students must attend for the entire first semester/trimester. Keith Munslow

Pascoag Public Library at 57 Church St. will host storyteller, musician and standup comedian Keith Munslow, 
Stories and Songs, as part of the Summer Reading 2020 program – Imagine Your Story. Munslow will visit the library on Friday, Aug. 14 from 11 a.m. to noon. The event is geared for kids and teens ages 5-18. Masks will be required and registration is limited due to social distancing requirements.

Food trucks

The long-awaited return of PVD Food Trucks to the Assembly Theatre will take place on Sunday, Aug. 16. The Assembly of Food Trucks will feature an expanded layout, and guests will be required to wear face coverings and follow distancing guidelines.  The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. and the lineup of trucks is expected to be released here this week.

Town meetings

The Pascoag Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners will hold a regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 10 starting at 7 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Burrillville School Committee will hold a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11 starting at 6 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Burrillville Sewer Commission will hold a meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, Aug. 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Zoning Board of Review will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12 via Zoom starting at 7 p.m. The agenda, and a link and instructions to attend can be found here.

The Nasonville Fire District Operating Committee will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11 starting at 7 p.m. at the Nasonville Fire Station at 2577 Victory Highway. The agenda can be found here.

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a public hearing on the town’s Hazard Mitigation Plan at the Wallace F. Lees Public Safety Complex on Wednesday, Aug. 12 starting at 7 p.m. Members of the public can attend via the link found here. The hearing will be followed by a regular meeting of the board at 7 p.m. with the agenda and instructions for attendance found here.
