NRI NOW announced planned relocations by several businesses since the website began covering the town in September of 2019, with stories that drew in thousands of curious readers.

Among them was an iconic breakfast spot that had been closed since a fire destroyed the business two years ago.

Coffee & Cream announced in August that the restaurant, which had done business in town for some 20 years before closing its Greenville Road location in 2015, would soon reopen at Slatersville Plaza.

Owners Heather and John Branchaud held a grand opening at the new location – the former Pinelli’s Cucina – on Monday, Nov. 18.  The business is now serving lunch as well, and is open until 2 p.m. daily.

That same week, a “sister” restaurant operated on the same Greenville Road property by members of the same family since 1969, announced that it also would be moving.

The owners of Beef Barn had purchased a portion of the former Homestead Gardens property on Industrial Drive, with plans to open there by late summer of 2020.

That story included some history of the Branchaud family’s town businesses, was “liked” on NRI NOW some 3,400 times.

In a follow-up on the move, NRI NOW reported that owner Marc Branchaud had purchased the 5.9 acre lot, roughly two miles from Beef Barn’s current location, for $450,000.

The owners have stated that the new location will offer outdoor seating, as well as beer and wine. In the meantime, the Beef Barn will remain open seven days a week at the current location.

And on November 13, the news website broke the story that Walgreens at Park Square would close, with a new location to open at Slaterville Plaza in place of Rite Aid.

The pharmacy had been built on Eddie Dowling Highway just five years prior. The chain recently purchased around half of the Rite Aid stores across the country, including the location in Slatersville.
