A cookie stroll, a toy drive & an open house: Five things to know in North Smithfield this weekend

Heritage Open House

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host a Holiday Shop with many town-related items for sale including totes, 2020 calendars, ornaments, throws and more. The open house will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forestdale Schoolhouse.

Toy drive

The North Smithfield police department has partnered with the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots program for their annual toy drive, to be held at Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The department will also have boxes in the lobby of the police department, located at 575 Smithfield Road, where new unwrapped toys can be dropped off.

Lainne Dionne

Lainne Dionne will perform at Tavern Six 2 One on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. Enjoy American dining, a laidback atmosphere, and covers of hits from the 1970’s to today.

Cookie Stroll

Wright’s Dairy Farm will host a their second annual cookie stroll on Sunday, Dec, 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Purchase fresh-baked cookies, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the facility and the bakers in action. Stroll through tables of Christmas cookies and unique holiday gifts. Enjoy free samples of eggnog, farm-fresh milk and popular holiday desserts. Enjoy the holiday atmosphere with Christmas music, a chance to meet Santa and many photo opportunities. Take a walk around the farm after the stroll to see the herd of Holstein cows.

The stroll will be setup with over 30 kinds of fresh-baked cookies for you to create your own Christmas cookie box. Make a box as a gift, freeze for your holiday party, or take it home to enjoy after Sunday dinner.

The event is one day only and a ticket must be purchased ahead of time for admission. Christmas cookies are $12.50 a pound.

Winter Recital

Noteworth Music will host its annual Winter Recital at 322 Eddie Dowling Highway starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.
