Holiday festivities, Muster registration: Five Things You Need to Know in Burrillville this week

4th of July parade

The 93rd annual Ancients and Horribles Parade will take place on Thursday, July 4 starting at 4 p.m. on Main Street in Chepachet. Groups taking part in the parade include several from Burrillville, and fireworks to celebrate the holiday will take place on Saturday.

Trash pick-up delayed

There will be no trash or recycling pickup in Burrillville on Thursday, July 4 and pickup will be delayed be one day for the remainder of the week. Questions can be directed to the Department of Public Works at 568-4440 ext. 12.

Town meetings

There will be no major meetings this week for Boards and Commissions in the town of Burrillville. The Burrillville Planning Board meeting, which was scheduled for Monday, July 1 according to the town website, will be held next Monday, July 8 at 7 p.m. for an agenda found here.

Join the Muster

The Oakland Mapleville Fire Department has scheduled its 60th annual Field Day and Muster for Sunday, Sept. 1 and is now signing up teams to participate in the muster. Teams must consist of six or more people and are required to bring full turnout gear including a hood and mask. Trophies will be awarded in several categories. At the libraries

The Pascoag Public Library will host a movie showing on Friday, July 5 at 11 a.m. Visit to see the 8th movie in the Space Opera saga that began in 1977.

At Jesse Smith Memorial Library, several events for kids relating to the Summer Reading Program will take place this week. One Tuesday, July 2, join a group behind the library for a half hour of stories and songs about space. On Wednesday, July 3, children 5 and up can register to make Outer Space Sand Art.
