Stuff the bus

Stop by Broncos Plaza at 1452 Broncos Highway on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to help out the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack program, which provides meals every weekend for approximately 35 Burrillville children in need.

Help fill a school bus with items such as peanut butter, pasta, mac & cheese and juice boxes to benefit the program, run solely by volunteers and supported 100 percent by donations and fundraising. The average monthly cost for the program is $900. No glass jars can be accepted.

JesseCon

Jesse Smith Memorial Library will host Jesse-Con on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. – their very own version of Comic-Con, with activities throughout the library. Enjoy activities including scavenger hunts, Jedi training academy trials, Harry Potter and Superhero bingo, crafts, an escape room and a temporary tattoo booth. At 2 p.m., musician Brian Ross will perform his original songs of Star Wars, Harry Potter and more.

Scholarship Breakfast

The Burrillville Lions Club will host a scholarship breakfast for the Class of 2019 on Sunday at Burrillville Middle School from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. The breakfast will include eggs, bacon, beans, muffins, coffee and juice. Tickets are $8 or free for kids 5 and under and can be purchased by calling Nancy at (401) 568-0148.

All proceeds go toward scholarships for Burrillville graduates.

Concert and book sale

Enigmatica, a New England-based mandolin ensemble featuring instruments of the mandolin family and guitars, will perform at First Universalist Church on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
The music goes back to the 19th century. In the same concert you may hear Baroque music by Bach, Brazilian music by Villa-Lobos, arrangements of folk tunes, a bit of pop, and recent music of American composers writing in both classical and traditional veins. Fans say there truly is something for everyone, all played with precision and passion.

Admission is free, but there will be a free will offering to benefit the preservation of the First Universalist Church. Refreshments will be served. For info, call 568-8449 or 500-0433.

After the concert, there will be a book sale at the church from 3-6 p.m.
