BURRILLVILLE – A Dorcester, Mass. man, and his female passenger, a woman from Woonsocket, were arrested this week after the driver in a traffic stop gave a fake name to police, who then found narcotics in the vehicle.

Vladimir Perez, 41, has been charged with driving with an expired license and obstructing an officer. Perez was also reportedly found to have two Superior Court bench warrants.

One of Perez’s two passengers, Esther Alvarez, 27, of 73 Bourbon Blvd., Woonsocket was charged with possession of a scheduled I-IV narcotic and possession of more than 1 ounce of marijuana.

According to arrest reports, the incident began when police spotted a silver Toyota driving around 61 in a 40 mile-per-hour zone on Broncos Highway.

The driver gave police the name Richard Timbo, but said he had no paperwork for himself or the vehicle. He said that the vehicle belonged to his good friend “Felix,” but reportedly told police he did not know his friend’s last name.

Police searched vehicle and reportedly found a brown napkin with four baggies of suspected cocaine. They also found marijuana, along with two credit cards, three visa gift cards and a checkbook with a different identity than the ones given to them by any of the three occupants in the vehicle.

Perez continued to insist that his name was Richard Timbo, and that he had no knowledge of the drugs even after the arrest. Police were eventually able to identify him, and to find his warrants and what was described as his “extensive” criminal history.

Alvarez was brought before a bail commissioner and released on a summons to appear in 6th District Court at a later date.

Perez was brought before a Bail Commissioner and later remanded to the Adult Correctional Institute.
