Chocolate basket raffle

You still have one day to get your tickets for Jesse Smith Memorial Library’s chocolate gift basket raffle. Raffle tickets are on sale at the library through tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 9, and cost $1 each, or 6 for $5. Winners will be drawn on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Noise from blasting

The Burrillville Police Department warns that over the next one to two weeks, Ocean State Power, located on Sherman Farm Road, will be undergoing a cleaning project where part of the process uses blasting to clean a portion of the exhaust system. This blasting should take place during the day time but may extend until as late at 7 p.m. Residents may hear several loud explosions in the area.

Get out!

Yoga with Brenda will host a Beer and Wine Gentle Flow class tonight, Friday, Feb. 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants will hold a bottle of beer or glass of wine during the majority of the poses, including balance poses. Beer/wine will be provided. There is a $15 drop in fee or the cost os $5 with a class card. All levels are welcome to the class at 50 Anne Lane in Pascoag.

Wallum Lake Rod & Gun club will host their monthly steak dinner on Friday, Feb. 9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The club will offer two kinds of steak, as well as baked chicken, and baked fish. All meals come with soup, salad, potato, vegetable, pasta, coffee, cake and a sundae bar. Meals start at $11.

The Purple Cat will host a Valentine’s Psychic Fair on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 11 Money Hill Road in Chepachet. The event is free. For more information and reservations call 860-963-9500.

Vanishing Breed, a country and southern rock band, will play at Uncle Ronnie’s Tavern on Saturday, Feb. 9, starting at 8:30 p.m.

Fundraisers

No New Power Plant and the Burrillville Land Trust will hold a fundraising bake sale on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Brigidos in Pascoag from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be desserts, cupcakes, breads cakes cookies and breads available for sale, with all proceeds to benefit the fight against the power plant.

The Burrillville Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus will host a Valentines Day Dance with music by the Bel-Aires at Bella Restaurant on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 1 to 5 p.m.. The cost for the event is $25 and all proceeds will benefit local charities. For tickets, contact Nancy at 401-568-0148.

Girl Scouts Troop 1375 will have a cookie booth at Dance Inspirations at Broncos Crossing on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9-1 p.m.

February Freeze

Burrillville High School boys’ basketball will hold their February Freeze tournament this weekend with games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The tournament starts at 6 p.m. tonight and is hosted by Rhode Island Youth Basketball Association.
