Ghosts in the valley

The Burrillville Historic and Preservation Society will present Ghosts of the Blackstone Valley with Tom D’Agostino, author and paranormal investigator on Tuesday, Jan. 22. The presentation will take place following the group’s regular 7 p.m. meeting at Bridgeton School at 16 Laurel Hill Ave.  For more information call 568-8449.

Conversation about age continues

Age Friendly Rhode Island will hold another meeting on the topic of growing older in Burrillville on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Everyone is invited to take part in the conversation about how to make aging in the state’s northwest corner easier. The gathering will begin with coffee at 10:15 a.m. in the Jesse Smith Memorial Library community room. Learn more about the ongoing events here.

Boards meet

The Burrillville Town Council will hold their regular meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the town building located at 105 Harrisville Main St.. The agenda can be found here.

The Budget Board will hold their regular meeting on Thursday, Jan 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the town building.

Zoning Board, Recreation Commission seek members

The town’s Recreation Commission and Zoning Board of Review are currently seeking members.

If you have an interest to serve on the boards or any others town commissions fill out an application and mail it to Town Clerk at Burrillville Town Building, 105 Harrisville Main Street, Harrisville, RI 02830 or drop it off at the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours.

Hearings continue

The Energy Facility Siting Board will continue final hearings this week on Invenergy’s proposal to build a power plant on Wallum Lake Road. Hearings will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. and will continue on the 23rd and 24th and are expected to address issues including air emissions, cost and need. They will be streamed live here.
