The Jesse Smith Memorial Library is seeking a part time children’s librarian. The position provides collection development, programming and reference assistance services in a busy children’s department. Responsibilities include answering patron reference questions, providing reader’s advisory and digital literacy services to the public, and assisting in the development of children’s programming.

The 19-hour per week position comes with no benefits, and some nights and weekends are required.

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in library science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association. Candidates close to obtaining a degree may be considered. Prior professional library experience preferred and the ideal candidate must have exemplary customer service and organizational skills as well as excellent technology skills, especially expertise in social media.

The salary is $20 to $23 per hour, depending on qualifications. Trash delayed
