BURRILLVILLE – Sip on hot chocolate, decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus, and get a small gift from Santa at a free family event this Saturday at the Stillwater Mill Center.

The annual Santa at Stillwater event kicks off at 1 p.m. when the jolly old man himself arrives on a Harrisville Fire truck. Guests will get the chance to hear holiday music under the pavilion by the Burrillville Middle School Chorus from 1 to 2 p.m., while enjoying hot chocolate and doughnuts donated by Dunkin Donuts of Pascoag.

Crowds listen to holiday carols beneath the pavilion at last year’s event.

Kids can tell Santa their Christmas wishes, and every child on the “good” list will receive a small gift.

The event, organized by Burrillville Parks and Recreation in collaboration with the Harrisville Fire Department, the Jesse Smith Library and the Burrillville Farmer’s Market, will also serve as a collection drive for the Burrillville Animal Shelter, and guests are invited to donate pet food, treats, and pet products in their drop box under the pavilion.  For a complete list of items accepted contact the Burrillville Animal Shelter at 568-9480.

Buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of many gift baskets, with proceeds to benefit the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program.

After chatting with Santa, warm up in the Jesse Smith Library where you can get your face painted in the library café and decorate holiday cookies with Mrs. Claus in the community room.

The Santa at Stillwater event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, with a blizzard date of Saturday,Dec. 15.
