Holiday giving, flag football: Five things you need to know in Burrillville this weekend

Backpack fundraiser at Johnny’s, Jesse Smith

Johnny’s Victory Diner is hosting a holiday fundraiser to benefit the Weekend Snack Pack program. Stop by the diner between Dec. 1 and 24 and donate $1 and have a Christmas stocking hung with your name on it. Johnny’s will match all donations. Learn more about the program, which provides food for local children in need, here.

The Jesse Smith Memorial Library is also collecting items for the program through the month of December, and guests are invited to take a tag from the library’s giving tree and return with the item.

Overlook bazaar

Overlook Nursing Home will hold their annual bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be handmade items for sale, 54 penny social raffles, 44 raffle baskets and a bake sale. There is also a gift card wreath raffle, a scratch ticket tree raffle, a convection oven and a $200 gift card for Brigido’s Fresh Market Raffle up for grabs. Santa  will be there from 10 a.m. until noon, and raffle drawings begin at 2:30 p.m.

Winter wine glass painting

The Jesse Smith Memorial Library will hold a crafting class with winter wine glass painting from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bring your creativity to this wine glass decorating event and the library will supply the rest. Space is limited and registration is required at the reference desk. Open to age 17 plus.

Indoor flag football

The Burrillville Patriots are starting up an indoor flag teams for the winter. The coed teams will be made up of youth ages 8-14 years-old for 5 on 5 games throughout the winter. Games will be played on Saturday afternoon and evenings, starting January 5 at Wide World of Indoor Sports in North Smithfield.
