BURRILLVILLE – A man who was reportedly found by police yelling and fighting with various parties over a five-hour period in one day was arrested by Burrillville Police.

Jake Hayter, 25, of Burrillville was charged with disorderly conduct following the final incident, in which the manager of Dunkin Donuts told police he’d been bothering customers and throwing items in the restaurant.

Police reportedly first encountered Hayter in the midst of a verbal argument outside of Lil’ General around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. Hayter and the other man involved were asked to leave the area, according to officers.

Around 5 p.m., police were called to Champ’s Liquors for reports that a man was causing a scene while walking his dog. Officers found Hayter walking with a large can of Natural Ice beer and several small bottles of liquor or “nips.” While speaking to police, he reportedly began yelling at the same man from the previous encounter. The man told police he and Hayter were arguing because Hayter has been sexually active with his girlfriend. Both parties were again dispersed, according to reports.

At 7 p.m. police again found Hayter in front of Champ’s Liquors, this time yelling with a female. The woman also reportedly appeared intoxicated, and after questioning, said she was Hayter’s friend.

While police were still at the scene, a second woman pulled up and reportedly began yelling at Hayter. The woman, who said she managed the coffee shop across the street, said she’d received multiple text messages from employees about Hayter’s behavior.

According to police, Hayter then began throwing his arms back and raising his chest toward officers in indication he wanted to fight.

Hayter was arrested, held overnight and brought to 6th District Court for his arraignment.
