Mapleville Farms will host their 6th annual Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 30, a family-friendly day with activities including Oakland-Mapleville Fire Department and fire engine; balloon animals; greenhouse tours; pony rides; wandering lumberjacks; face painting; kids games; pumpkin painting and artisan vendors. Admission to the fair is free and starts at 11 a.m. at the farm at 544 Victory Highway Mapleville.

Support Hose Company #1

There will be a charity golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 29 to benefit Pascoag Hose Company #1 at Country View Golf Club. The 3rd annual event runs from noon to 6 p.m. and includes a bbq dinner for $100. Funds raised help to support local youth groups and sports organizations throughout the year. Preserve a church

Although tickets are no longer on sale for the Addieville East Farm chicken dinner Saturday night to help preserve First Universalist Church, you can still help the cause! Mark your calendar for next Saturday, when the Burrillville Historical and Preservation Society will hold their 17th annual Open House/Yard Sale/Bake Sale/Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Support your teams

Best of luck to two undefeated Broncos teams looking to continue their winning streaks this week.

The Burrillville High School varsity football team is 3-0 and will play against Rogers tonight – Friday, Sept. 28 – in an away game in Newport starting at 7 p.m.

The school’s varsity volleyball team is also undefeated so far this year with a 6-0 record, and will take on the Patriots at Portsmouth High School on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Gerald Moon’s comedy mystery Corpse continues this weekend at The Assembly Theatre. The show will take place Fridays, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at the East Avenue theater. Tickets cost $15. For reservations and more information call 568-2929.
