School registration
Thursday, Aug. 23 is the last day for summer registration for new students in the Burrillville School District. Families can register by appointment at the administration building at 2300 Bronco Highway, Harrisville on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m.
Refer to the district’s Student Registration page for details and documentation requirements. School for Burrillville public school students begins on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Hearings continue
The Energy Facility Siting Board’s final hearings on Invenergy’s power plant proposal continue this week with meetings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at RI Public Utilities Commission hearing room at 89 Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick. Topics expected to continue this week include discussion of Burrillville’s comprehensive plan, land use, advisory opinions from town officials and air emissions.

Pick a rock
The Burrillville Rocks Facebook group is holding a school-themed rock painting contest for kids with prize gift packages for the winners. While you missed the deadline to enter, you can still vote for your favorite by joining the group and “liking” your pick. Voting ends Thursday at 5 p.m. and the winner will posted next weekend.
Check your route
Some bus routes have changed for the upcoming school year and transportation company Dattco has posted complete routes on their website. Check your child’s route here.
The company is also still seeking drivers for the Burrillville terminal. Dattco offers free training to obtain a CDL-B with proper endorsements to qualified applicants.
If you already have a CDL and prior school bus driving experience you can start driving right away.
